The first time i did try Matcha Green Tea was during a trip to Kuala Lumpur, I was going to have a Café Latte but ended up with a very nice Matcha, recommended by the shop owner. That was the very beginning of my Matcha adventure, and the following days i was drinking Matcha in stead of coffee, and I enjoyed every sip of it.

After returning to Denmark, I was searching for places to get the Matcha powder, and at that time it was not very easy to find, so i ended up ordering some from a tea shop in Singapore, later i have found some places to get the powder around here, but it is very expensive compared to the one i use to order abroad, or take with me home when i am out there.

During my search i also came across a lot of websites, telling about the benefits about consuming this green superfood. What i found out are that Matcha Tea is an easy and simple way to add powerful health benefits to your everyday diet.

Most of the Matcha i tried in Malaysia was Matcha Latté, so what i have been trying to do, are to find the one recipe that suits my own taste, and after trying a lot of different recipes, i modified some of those to fit my own taste because i don't drink milk, and what i came up with are this:

Matcha Green Tea Frappé with Coconut Whip

This recipe are really simple to make, all you need are a blender, and a few ingredients: Matcha Powder, Soy Milk, Maple Syrup, Vanilla Bean, Salt and Coconut Cream, and maybe a little Cinnamon for topping.

Preparation time: 10 min.
Serves 3


1½ cups of chilled Soy Milk
2½ teaspoons of Matcha Powder
2½ tablespoons of Maple Syrup
Seeds of half scraped Vanilla Bean Pod
Tiny pinch of Sea Salt

Whipped Coconut Cream Topping:
4 tablespoons of cold, solidified Coconut Cream
2 teaspoons of Maple Syrup
Tiny pinch of Sea Salt


  1. In a blender, combine Soy Milk, Matcha Powder, Maple Syrup, Vanilla Seeds and Sea Salt. Blend on high, until frothy and smooth. Poor into glaasses.
  2. In a small bowl, combine Coconut Cream, Maple Syrup and Sea Salt. With electric beaters, whip for around 1 minute until it resembles whipped cream.
  3. Either dollop or pipe Coconut Whip onto the surface of your Green Tea Frappé and dust with a little more MatchaPowder or Cinnamon before serving.
